Installation and replacement procedure for the 4204490 fridge water filter:

  • Lift the grille assembly.
  • Slowly rotate the old filter cartridge 1/4 turn counterclockwise. Do not pull.
  • Line up the new cartridge so that the locking tabs can be inserted into the filter head.
  • Rotate the filter cartridge into the base about 1/4 turn clockwise until it stops. Do not overtighten.
  • The first full bucket of ice produced should be discarded. This will help clean the water system and clear air from the line.

  • Once the filter cartridge has been replaced, the control automatically resets the water filter life monitor and the ”REPLACE FILTER” indicator will no longer be displayed.

When to change a filter: The filter cartridge should be replaced when the ”REPLACE FILTER” indicator is displayed, or every 12 months, or if the ice cubes become hollow or smaller.

Important: It is essential that operation, maintenance and filter replacement be carried out in accordance with manufacture's recommended procedures and guidelines for this product to perform as advertised. Failure to do so may void warranty.
